It would actually be cheaper for me to break contract and sign up with Cingular than to pay the quoted cost for an 8800 w/ TMO.
how is it cheaper? ETF with Tmo is what, $175 - $200. add that to the $300 for cingular's 8800 and you're talking right under $500. plus activation fee and cingular has more expensive BES/BIS data plans.

I called 3 stores, nobody had it. I then went to the T-Mobile site and ordered it over the phone. Will have it by Friday. $399 with a 1 year contract. Good enough.

I am surprised they didn't tell you it was only available online.

ok so UPS just dropped off my new 8800, man does it look good! Ive tried to get a new theme from the options menu and it says " sorry, themees are currently not supported for your software version". Anybody else get this? Know a fix? I read it doesnt need plazmic theme loader because it already has a loader, so i dont know what the problem is.

There are no downloadable themes yet for the 8800. Only the vendor supplied themes.

Are you in downtown Chicago around a lot of tall buildings? That tends to kill GPS signals. Hopefully that's the case, because if T-Mobile disabled GPS I would be really upset. But I doubt that's it, you just may not have a clear enough view of the sky. Alternatively, have you checked out the options/advanced options menu to make sure that GPS isn't somehow disabled?

I'm pretty curious about the GPS issue as well given that there is no formal mention of it on th Tmo site.

My 2-year Verizon contract on my 7250 is coming due -- can't wait to finally step up!

chi - are you inside or outdoors? The 8800 must be outside (or by a window) to acquire the satellites. I have GPS working on an 8800 on T-Mobile.

After reading this thread today I signed into my t-mobile account (at www.t-mobile.com). Chosed the upgrade path, and yup, the 8800 is there, all the way at bottom under "handheld" below the dwayne wade sidekick.

How about the 8300/8320 that isn't coming out in early May?
