Hello!

I'm looking to buy a Blackbery 9700 second hand and have a few questions.

I currently have an iPhone on o2 with unlimted internet built into my current contract, what i wan't to do is just swap the sim card straight into the Blackberry.

I keep hearing people talking about 'Blackberry plan', would my current internet data plan be ok for internet/BBM? Or would i need to pay more per month for this?

Also, i have no idea about the phone services needing unlocked?

A BB is not like an ordinary cell or smartphone. You will need a BB data plan for Internet, email, Maps, Facebook, BBM and other RIM related services. A generic plan can work for Internet, but it is not a great way to do it and you will need a workaround to get it to work.

If the device is not o2 branded, then it would need to be unlocked to work on that network. BBF has an unlock service to do that. I think the cost is less than $10 US. Don't know what the cost of the BB plan would be on o2. We have some members here so once they see this, they should be able to tell you.

As i have an unlimted data plan on my iPhone i should just be able to pop that into the BB and be able to access the internet without any other data plans?

Nope. You have to call o2 and get them to switch your data plan to a BlackBerry data plan. It's different than either a generic data plan or an iPhone plan. It should cost you the same amount as the iPhone plan so no worries about jacking up your monthly tariff.
