I am thinking at this point it might be related to the missing service books (the app might be looking for it, even if it does not need it via wi-fi)

Have you ever had a data plan??

Here is an option to try....

Sign up for data plan, as this will download ALL the service books... Cancel the data plan the next day (will cost you like .80 cents for the one day) and make sure they add the BlackBerry Enabler Feature back on when you cancel the data plan...

I am no expert as to why these applications are working on my device and on others but not working for some.....

It's a guess at this point that it might be looking for service books even though it does not need them...

Maybe someone smarter can chime in with a better response

so you can add a data plan for a day and it will only cost the price of a single day and not a month price???

Is there no way to get the service books with out doing this...I prefer not to have to switch over my browser and everything that is already set up for Wi-fi to a blackberry set-up.

You dont need to change anything over... Just call them and the books will be sent to the device...

Wait a day and cancel it... When you cancel it, make sure they add the Blackberry Enabler Feature back on...

You cant get the books without a data plan.... Perhaps this is the reason these apps are working for some (had a data plan at one time and have the books) and not working for others (never had a data plan ie.. the books)

Hello,

I have been lurking for a bit and i was wondering did you ever get your email working of WIFI? I am 95% sure i want to invest in a 8320 and I want to know exactly what i can do without the Data plan. I am a student and strapped for cash. I asked a t-mobile rep whether I could get email without the email or data plan, with only WIFI, and he said I could but it seems that he was not totally informed.

Any info that will push me over the edge would be helpful. Thanks

You can't get email the normal BlackBerry way... What I have done is forward my email accounts to my gmail, then I use the Gmail application to check and get the mail on the device... Other than that you could check your email over the browser...

You will not need a data plan to play the games.. You should be able to download them now via wi-fi connection...

Thanks Lunk,

I think that will do for now, gmail works for me. when I go to get my BB today I will sign up for the data plan to get the service books that you have previously mentioned. Man, what did we do before forums and the internet. I would completely in the dark if it weren't for you guys and this forum. The T-Mobile guy sure did not know what was going on.

Thanks again!

You should be able to acess the BlackBerry Mobile page just fine with the W-Fi Browser...

If you check Options >> Advanced Options >> Host Routing Table

do you see Wi-Fi (##) listed???

I am really starting to believe this is a service book issue...

Actually I've never had the data plan, but I had T-mobile add the BlackBerry Enabler feature to my account after I read your post and that made things work. However google apps have stopped working since today evening

gmail apps is working now.. may have been a temp issue...

Do u have EDGE or edge and UMA or uma ?

As per a T-mobile rep that I spoke with if its in CAPS then the network is allowing connections to the network server which is essential for these applications to work. This is also the case for using them over wi-fi. (If I under stood this correctly)

Adding the BB enabler feature turned that on for me.

I have everything in CAPS....still nothing.
What did you do to your phone to get the Google apps working?
without ever having the data plans?

Go to Host Routing Table and click the menu button and select register now

Pull the battery for 30 seconds and see if that solves the issue... If not, call T-Mobile and have them resend the service books....

Also, you said you now have everything in CAPS, you should have had this before as that is what the BlackBerry Enable Feature does.... Uppercase EDGE and UMA...
