Welcome! Are you talking about BBM? It uses data.

Traceable? Yes.

SMS, MMS, email, PIN messages are in messages. Yes, you can delete them from your handset.

Blackberry messenger is based on PIN messaging, just a different user interface, and it functions like an instantant messenger app.

Welcome to the group!

BlackBerry Messenger Uses data, however Pin message to my knowledge can not be traced, once a conversation is ended that's it.. The messages are BlackBerry to BlackBerry no middle man server/service.

Wirelessly posted (8820)

If the pin message is still on the recipients blackberry, it is traceable back to the senders blackberry, obviously.

And PIN messages do go through RIM's servers, not to mention the carrier's network, right, just not through email servers.

Not that I care, but I would not assume that they are untraceable.

Just noticed the OP asked if IM's are tracked on billing. My error for missing that. SMS and MMS would be. Data useage, at least in my experience, is just billed as kB used. I assume it would be the same for everyone.

Sorry I confused things.
