Default Any thoughts on Google Navigation making it to BB?

Other than making rumors up, does anyone have any information as to whether Google NAvigation is going to work it's way onto the Blackberry platform?

There's a HUGE difference between Google Maps and Google Navigation.
Google it.

No word on it being ported to BlackBerry yet.
iPhone is in the works, and there's talk of open development for other platforms but no real details yet.

Although Google navigation is free, it doesn't have turn by turn and verbal directions, right? I downloaded it and it seems to work well except for these missing features or am I missing something?

You didn't download Google Maps Navigation. If you had tried, you would have (hopefully) read this part on the website linked above:

Google Maps Navigation is an internet-connected GPS navigation system with voice guidance. It is part of Google Maps for mobile and is available for phones with Android 2.0.

That is what I did. I clicked on the link "Google Maps for Mobile" and I get Google Maps and simple GPS navigation, I don't see any of the other capabilities advertised, voice commands, voice search, traffic view, etc. I have a BB 9700. Refer to the earlier posts. Maybe that is what they meant it hasn't been ported over to the BB yet. Sorry, I'm technically challenged and new to all this since I just got my new BB.

Fair enough. Google Maps Navigation requires Android 2.0, so it will not show up on any other device at the moment. You should have traffic, however, as that is just a layer you can turn on or off.

I don't think google navigation will show up on BB anytime soon. GMAIL sucks on my BB. I can't even blind copy myself to my gmail account and have it show up on my phone. RIM said this WAS a known problem with Google mail and it was THEIR choice. You can't email yourself from your phone on a GMAIL account from a BB. I think they don't like BB much...

Wrong. Again Google Nav != Google Maps. You couldn't have downloaded Google Nav to a 9700. It's only on Android 2.0 and 1.6 for now.

Sorry for the derail but I am glad they fixed what I consider to be a bug (but you consider to be a feature). It was highly annoying to me to get my own emails that I sent out to come back to me. I had to resort to a BIS filter to stop that (my thinking being, WHY would I ever want email that I sent?).

Getting back on topic, I hope that Google Navigation hits the BB platform too. I like Google Maps, it has a top notch search engine... but it really doesn't navigate. The last thing I want to do is write down directions or peer at small sized text while driving so I can get to where I'm going. I may as well use the browser and navigate using Mapquest or the like.

Personally, I have Garmin Mobile, so I don't NEED Google Navigator but I still look forward to Google's implementation of a navigator application for the BB.

since i live in australia, my gps options are limited (amaze gps/wisepilot are the only decent ones i've found that work). I'd love google navigation to come to the blackberry however i'm rather skeptical atm since google OWN android, might want to push for their own platform to give it an edge over others.

I agree with you. I've got a co-worker with the Droid, and the navigation is nice (turn-by-turn, voice, etc. for free). I'm using TeleNav for now.

I saw a YouTube clip from Google saying it's coming, but not putting out an expected release date.
