Later OS's will bring back the folder icons. However, I think wallpapers are gone for good. My guess is they take up too much memory.

I can't seem to find net_rim_bb_medialoader_320x240_b.cod

Is that the standard location for the custom folders in all previous versions?

You can't find the medialoader.cod because it's been removed by RIM. It contained the wallpapers and the folder icons.

I'm running 4.5.0.55, but I have files for 4.2.2.184, 4.5.0.52, & 4.5.0.55 on my laptop.

The wallpapers are gone in those 4.5 OS's.

Get them here:

I had to download and install version 4.5.0.44 for the 8310 to get the file. I just followed the steps I posted above the other day when I upgraded my 8320 to the latest.

Thanks. I thought it should have been in the 4.2, but this saves me the trouble of figuring that out.

You don't need them, be happy they are gone.

Dave...right above your post I posted a link to install the wallpapers as an .alx/.cod file. Simple.

Technically we don't need our Blackberry's either. But we enjoy them and they make life easier. So please you decide what you need and we'll decide what we need and everyone will be happy.

@ John, ah okay. I've moved the file to a safe spot on my PC but I will give your way a look. It certainly sounds easier than having to edit the .alx file although that only took me a few minutes this time around. Thanks!

Either way accomplishes the same thing. If you've already downloaded, installed, and extracted the other .cod then it's the same either way. Just thought I'd make you aware I posted that install file.

Personally, I think it's a good thing that they are gone for good since I never used them. When I did your "optimize your memory" thing, the preloaded wallpapers and video were pretty much the only things I got rid of (plus small stuff like languages and IM) and my memory has been fine ever since.
