Iv signed with my local isp for the blackberry unlimited email n browsing. They said that I got the service n its enabled on their side. My bb shows gprs where the signal is. What bothers me is that on my friend's, its shows capital "GPRS" and not "grps". When I try to browse the web on my bb it says "This is a wifi service etc..... How can I fix this?

The lowercase gprs is saying you do not have a data connection to the Blackberry servers. You could try a simple battery pull to get the device to open up that connection.

You won't be able to access the Internet unless you connect to a wireless network or you get uppercase GPRS.

When you pull the battery make sure you are *not* turning off the device.

Go to Manage Connections then Mobile Network Options. Verify that Data is turned on.

edge means no connection to the RIM Blackberry data system. It's usually a problem with your data plan. It will also say 'data connection refused' when something is not provisioned right.

When you're on a wifi network, you'll need to use the wifi/hotspot browser. Go to Options >Advanced Options >Browser and make the wifi/hotspot browser the default browser.

Ammmmm...im not on a edge plan. Im on a GRPS plan. I dont wanna use wifi. I want to use GPRS.

Did you go to Manage Connections, then Mobile Network Options and verify that Data Services is set to On?

How long ago did your cell provider set up the feature on your account? I know T-Mobile has a 24-hour provisioning period. It doesn't take that long, but they want customers to wait at least 24-hours before calling in to complain it's not working yet just in case there is some sort of a delay.

Your own provider may have a similar policy.

Iv signup August 18th of this year. Iv called them over n over until they know my name by heart. Iv tried my sim in another bb8120 and it works great. But I dont kno any1 with a bb8320 to try it out.

Well, if you signed up for an unlimited blackberry email n web plan then you didn't sign up for a "GPRS" plan. A GPRS plan typically refers to a non-blackberry data plan.

From the plan you describe, you should have full access to everything. If you're not going to use stand-alone wifi, then go to the same place and set the default browser to "Internet Browser." If you don't have that option there is something wrong with your data plan from your provider. Go to Options >Advanced Options >Host routing Table and hit the menu key and select "Register Now." If it still doesn't work, give your provider a call.

My friend has GPRS and he can access the internet. Iv went to HRT and the registration sent successfully.
I cant change the browser settings from "Hotspot Browser" to "Internet Browser".

Then something is wrong with your data plan. Is your device new? Is it possible there is an IT policy blocking the browser?

Well..........Its an Orange UK mobile and was unlocked by Orange UK. What u called n IT policy?


Im going to do a downgrade and see if that helps. If not, Im taking a trip back to the UK and and face Orange myself.
