Trouble with T-Mo Blackberry Curve 8320
Please Login to Remove!
I'm getting annoyed with T-Mo, and the Blackberry device they've been giving me. My first BB had an issue where it would restart itself every 5mins, talk to like 6 representative from T-Mo till one was finally like your device is malfunctioning, you need a replacement. Simply said and done, thought I wouldn't run into any trouble. BUT, now here is my 2nd device, still a BB Curve 8320. Now the issue is that I am not getting any of my emails. Everything works fine, from text messages to BB messenger. The only thing that doesn't work is Emails, and Pin messages. Last week, I re-registered my email, and it worked fine for three days till this morning, and suddenly, no more emails are coming in. I talk to the T-Mo rep again today, they are going to send another device. Now my question after my whole rant is that, is this a device malfunction, or am I missing something here?

Also do you still have a BlackBerry data plan on this device?

Great, I will assume "Data Plan" is the $19.99 T-Mobile BlackBerry Data Plan. Follow the above link and let use know if that addresses email.
Also on your home screen what is listed GSM, gprs, GPRS, edge or EDGE?

4.2.2.180 the one t-mo wanted me to download. Don't know if its true or not, but the rep said if I had any other version that isn't supported by T-Mo my warranty would be void.

That is NOT True. They will not support the BB with another OS on it but it does NOT void the warranty. I recommend upgrading to AT LEAST 4.2.2.184 and, really, the 4.5.0.55 OS that is out right now is even better.

Ok, will do. Is there anything I should know or do before I make the jump? Any helpful tips or links?

I would suggest just following the instructions carefully and know we are here for you!

How about backing up applications? I hate having to update some of the messenger applications over and over again each time try to fix my phone. Is there a way to back up all the applications?
I guess I'm just asking for instructions.

There are new versions of the IM apps with the 4.5 OS. All the applications you installed previously will be on your BlackBerry after you upgrade.

That happened to when I had just bought my BB. Turned out that the rep hadn't locked down the SIM card in the holder correctly. Once I had corrected that, no more reboots.
i know that doesn't help you now, just adding it for other newbs who have this problem.

Make sure the right pin for the new device is registered on their BIS site.

the warranty issue is only partially true and example is. IF you send in the device to be replaced and IT HAS a non t-mo software version on it then you will be hit with an out of warranty fee. "HOWEVER" as long as its on the official tmo software version when the device is accepted by the repair center you cool so its a fine line.

A handset exchange for email not arriving is poor technical support if you ask me. Email not arriving is not a hardware problem.
