Mine did not sell, so my offer stands - 25 dollars delivered. Yes, I know my number of posts is low, but my ebay feedback is high (171 with 100% satisfaction), so you will get the case from me if you want it.

sorry, seemed appropriate since the thread dealt specifically with the case in question.

I know it's been said over & over, but I might as well agree with everyone else, if for no other reason than to scare off anyone else.

I used the clear case for my 7100t, and had the exact same issues mentioned:

1. The case got dirty. It has a vaguely yellow-ish tint now, sort of like old cigarette butts. And no, I don't smoke.

2. The plastic screen protector scratched my screen, and as soon as I noticed it (within a few days), I just took it off and started using the case without the screen guard.

3. The little metal disc in the clip that told the BB to go to sleep when I plugged it in? Well the glue dried out on that somewhere around 3 weeks after I got the case. I was able to keep it around for a while, remembering to wedge it back in there every couple of days, and then one day when I was removing the unit it fell out. I noticed that night when I got home and took the clip off of my belt.

This thing has been sitting in a drawer for a few months now. I just use the generic belt clip that came with it and try to be careful.

Cool The infamous Speck case

The Good, the bad and the ugly

Time for my .02 cents worth...

I had read many times about the Speck Blackberry case, and knew that although not the prettiest, it was definetly the most effective at protecting a BB. I am now on my 2nd 7290 since I tend to be hard on them. I have seen my device dropped and kicked across a parking lot, bounce down an escalator, etc, etc, etc. It looked like it had been to hell and back! But like a Timex, it kept on ticking. But alas, it finally stopped picking up a signal. All in less than a year! Being under warranty, Rogers replaced it. I knew I needed a better option to protect my device. Pros and cons aside, I knew I needed a Speck.

Based on the various comments, I didnt want to drop $40 bucks American plus shipping on an unknown, so I found a brand new one for my 7290 on eBay for $2.00. With shipping and conversion, etc. I paid $15.00 Canadian.

In regards to the case itself. The magnet fell out the day I received it. Easy, I fixed it with epoxy. It ain't goin' nowhere!
My screen protector arrived with scratches on it, so I have never used it. Besides, after reading the reviews, I had no intention of using it anyways and with the way case bows at the bottom of the screen, it would never hold the screen in place anyways. Instead, I had ordered an invisible shield for it. The shield is amazing

I have to agree with those that have had gripes about the case.
Cons...
- it is fussy to get into the holster. If it doesn't go in properly, it falls out very easily.
-it does get dirty, but as well, it is washable.
- it does make the device extra bulky, and its not easy to get out of a pocket once it goes in. But if I wanted to put it in my pocket, I would have a different case.
- the spring in the belt clip is pathetic. It has no strength, and weakens very easily.
Pros...
- when I put it somewhere, it stays there.
- I still drop it on occasion, but for the reason I got it, I love it. My device is still blemish free, and looking like new. The silicon case protects the outside from blemishes, and the inside from jolting shocks when dropped.
- people see it and like it. They see it for what it is. A protective cover. And if for no other reason, this is why the case is worth the value. If you want something sleek and pretty. This is not the case for you. But if you are like me and tend to unintentionally abuse your Blackberry on a regular basis, you have to say goodbye to pretty and hello to effective.

At the end of the day, I am a very active Tech/consultant that tends to abuse Blackberries and I need to protect my investment, and the speck to this point has done that.

In my humble opinion...

Thanks for taking the time to write that review, I will be getting one soon, as I, like you, can be tough on the equipment...

I actually just took my case back into the kitched and washed it off with just warm water. It appears to have taken the yellowish tint out of the case for now. It also seems to have made the case slightly tighter again. Still wont use the screen cover but it does look better after a wash. (using clear case)

In regards to what I wrote above...
Well... go figure. I got into a friends car today, the case caught on the seat, and the "belt clip" snapped right off! I would have been more peaved if I had actually paid the overpriced retail cost for it. But having only invested $15.00, it wasnt so bad.
I emailed Speck right away and enquired about replacement parts.
They were quick to reply, Rosie Oda sent me a link to their parts department.
$5.95 (US) for a new holster.
$10.95 (US) for shipping
+ any duty charges tacked on since it would be shipped by courier.

I dont think so! On that note, are their any disgruntled users of the Skin Tight Speck for the 7290, with said product sitting in a drawer? And would those said disgruntled users be willing to part with the belt clip? hmmmm?

I had to ask. Thanks

Have had two cases (I broke the belt clip/holster on one) and they have both been great.

One thing to be careful of...

If you drop your 'berry & dirt or other debris find their way under the rubber skin or screen cover, you can end up with a pretty deep scratch. This is not the fault of the skin, but something of which to be mindful.

Been there, done that, have the screen scar.
