Default Installation - E2K3 on W2K3, BES on W2K?

Please Login to Remove!

I'm preparing to perform our BES 4.0 installation. Our E2K3 server runs on W2K3, but the planned BES server has to stay at W2K for now. Is this a supported config? I can't find anything that says for certain it is. The docs say you can install it on W2K with E2K3 tools, but it doesn't mention if the E2K3 and BES can or can't be on different platforms.
Thanks!

Don't get me started on that. The server we're going to use is serving another function for an app that doesn't run on W2K3 yet.
My sysadmin voice says buy a new server, latest & greatest, but the beancounters won't spend the money for 20 BB users.
As long as the BES and Exchange servers will work properly on the different platforms, we'll be OK until we can get the other app upgraded, and move everything to the new OS then.

Extended support is June 30, 2010, though.

Default VMWare

Let me just say that I've run BES 3.5 on a VMWare machine (both 2000 & XP) and it has been extrememly smooth.

Just an alternative on the hardware front.

Alticon:
What sort of hardware (CPU, RAM, etc) is the VM Host machine and how many BB users are you supporting on it?
Thanks.
