Default How do I increase the size limit on network files accessed through file manager?

Please Login to Remove!

I recently discovered that I can access windows file shared through the blackberry file manager through my BES express 5.1 installation.

However, files over 1MB are greyed out and not copyable.

I've sifted through quite a bit of the BES literature, but I can not find out if there is a way to increase the file size limit. I would like to set it up to something like 5MB, since so many of the files I usually want to access, (particularly pictures) are sometimes 1-3mb.

Anybody know how to change that limit in the BES admin console?

Thanks!

BAS 5.0.1 you should go to

BlackBerry Solution topology > BlackBerry Domain > Component view > Attachment > Server > View

Thre you shold increase your attachment view to whatever is required ..Please keep in mind that this will increase utilization on the BES server if it is not remote..

Yeah, actually figured it out. Thank goodness RIM increased the max socket transfer limit from 1024k to 10MB in BES 5, I went into the attachment server configuration and set all the file types size limits to 0 so they won't be capped, then I went into the MDS configuration and changes the maximum data allowed to be transferred through an MDS socket to the max of 10240kb. Now I can access files up to 10240KB through the blackberry file manager remotely.

It works great for grabbing files off of network resources. Although sending files back to the server shares is considerably slower. That might just be my poor upload speed on my cable modem (384k up).

Thanks for the help!

Nope, think about it. Your upload to server share via BES is a download from cable modems perspective.

More likely a device upload speed limit.
