I have to upgrade my dying 8830 and our business is upgrading to the 9650. I have a four year subscription w/ Telenav. I have asked Telenav if they are going to support the Verizon 9650 and they say they have no idea if (not when, but IF) they will support the 9650.

I fully realize it takes time to port an application but I find it most strange that the largest GPS SW company for smartphones hasn't made a decision if they will support the latest BB.

Does anyone have any insight they can share? And if I have to cancel my Telenav subscription, which alternative should I go with.

You just found out ATT has partnered with them and just like the IPhone they may have it locked up for a while.
I know you said you have a sub to the service but maybe they will allow you to cancel the service.
Google and BB maps are free and offer a good level of service. I like BB maps.

Thanks. I use Google Maps but it doesn't do turn by turn directions, unless I have missed an option. maybe I will look into going with VZNavigator.

I dont know what TMobile has to do with it but yes, Telenav does indeed work on the Verizon 9650. I have it.

Thanks- what version did you download, or did it choose it for you when you went to the site? Is the GPS in the 9650 operational and used by Telenav?

I downloaded it last year, on my Tour, from BB App World. I can't remember what version it was originally but I asked Telenav to please send me their current version if it was updated from BB App World. My current version is now 5.5.010.64. It seems no different from the old one. Yes it works off my GPS which has to be on to open the app. It works wonderfully!

Thanks but now I am confused- sorry. The Tour is a 9630, the "Tour 2," renamed for some unknown reason to the Bold, is the 9650. So, do you have the Tour (9630) or the "Tour 2" (9650)?

I now have the BOLD 9650. I had the TOUR 9630. I had Telenav on the Tour and now it's on the Bold. Hope this helps.
I don't know why this site calls it a Tour. It says Bold right on the device. Sorry for the confusion.

Thanks for clarifying. Can you open Telenav and tell me the version you have running on your 9650, please? This is important as I continue to communicate with Telenav about this.

Hi Steve. I think you will be very happy with your 9650. Telenav version I have is 5.5.0.1064. There number is 888-353-6284. Hope this helps.

For a VZ 9650, I found that loading telenav for Sprint/9630 seems to work well.
