Default AIM for my BB 8830 on verizon

Please Login to Remove!

So, this is my first BB I have ever had. I really didn't know much about it when I bought it, and asked the lady if you could use AIM and MSN mess. and other IM's. She said yes so I bought the 8830. However, I can't put AIM on it and tried RAMBLE but it rarely works, just hangs when it says signing in. Once in a blue moon it connects. Are there any other apps for instant messengers that will work with my BB?

Thanks.

Welcome to the forums and to the Blackberry world. You should purchase Jivetalk, its by far the best IM program out there. You can use AIM, Google and other IM clients all at once. Do a quick search for Jivetalk and see what all the craze is..

I've got Jivetalk and so far I like it. Two questions though. It says 19.99 one time...and 29.99 to be able to transfer it to another phone, although you can only use it on one phone at a time. What if I get the 19.99 version and my BB breaks and I get it replaced. Do I have to pay another 19.99?
Second question...my verizon rep (the one you get when you dial 611) says that every message is counted as a text message. I thought it was just counted against your "data" usage. If so, how much "data" is used if I leave it on 24/7 with no messages?
Thanks...my first post...so far...

It is well worth the extra $10 for be able to use it on multiple phones. Since buying the program I have had 5 different Blackberry's and with the $29 license I can transfer it no problem.

You won't need to worry about data charges with that then. If you want to add a month of free tethering to that list let me know.

Can Jivetalk be used over a wifi connection or is it only compatible with a carrier's data plan?

Exclamation

FYI, there is a Jivetalk coupon listed here in the forums. Not sure if it is still good or not, but here's the link!
