Does anyone 'travel' arouond the country with T-Mobile? The 1 reason I'm hesitant to make the switch from Cingular to T-Mobile, is because I heard it's not that reliable for travelers.

I go on business trips a lot. Usually my destination (from California) is Denver, NY, Chicago, Wisconsin, Tennessee or Arizona.
T-Mobile works fine in all the areas.
did I spell Tennesee right. Looks butchered.

I can add Kansas, Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Arkansas, Texas. At least major cities and highways, of course you take your chances out in the hinterlands. Kansas (where I live) and Iowa have GSM regional carriers so even away from major highways etc. the coverage is pretty good. I find that T-Mo is at least as good when travelling than the other majors.

Have you personally compared t-mobile to any other (GSM) carrier while travelling?

If you travel to major cities you will be ok with about any carrier. TMO now has a lot of roaming agreements and roaming is free (no surprises).

Not any other GSM, presumably you would be roaming on their (Cingular) network anyway even if you are on T-MO. My ex-partners were on Cingular and then Verizon and despite Verizon's rep for covering all the rural areas, they dropped calls more than I did. IMHO T-Mo has as good of coverage as anyone.
