Default Verizon Curve 3?

Please Login to Remove!

My daughter is thinking about getting a Curve... I believe the model that Verizon carries now is what they call the Curve 2. I read somewhere that they would be releasing a 'Curve 3' soon... wondering if it would be worth the wait? I'm not real savvy.. think I understood that it was going to be 3G but then I read about the Curve 2 and it sounded to me like it was 3G.

I believe there is a Curve 3G coming, but its a GSM only device at this point.
The Curve 2, I believe the 8530?, is 3G yes. (its the 8520 GSM version that isn't 3G)

That's really dumb for the gsm version not to have 3g.

Not really considering it is basically an entry level device.

Well at least it still gets the job done as a handset.

Good info. Thoughts on whether it might be worth the wait?

There are no rumours of the Curve 3G for Verizon.
It may or may not get it.
If you need it now, go with the 8530.

I personally think it's dumb. RIM is pulling a Palm here. They are spending way, way, way too much money on products with some minor differentiation to market 'segments'. At first there was a Palm Pilot. Then at the end there was a Zire 22 for the entry level, Zire Z71 for the higher end consumer, The Tungsten, T2, T3 for the higher end..... and don't forget the ipod killin Lifedrive...... Right.

Pearl, Pearl Flip, Storm, Tour, Bold, Curve,..... How much capital is being blown on rediculous hardware variations in attempt to garner faux excitement around same device different form factor.

In this age of technology it is just a plain stupid and corporate suicide to build dumbed down products to try and have differentiation.

I said it in another thread RIM should have 2 products - keyboard and no keyboard. The look and feel [and capabilities] should be consistent across network carriers.

Focus on OS, apps, and user experience....

This sounds like a RANT to me. Maybe you need to post it there?
