Question blackberry 8700, bluetooth, ActiveSync

Please Login to Remove!

Folks,

Is there are way to update my BlackBerry 8700 with MS ActiveSync through bluetooth? Could anyone point me to the instructions on how to do it (I couldn’t find them with Google)?

So far I was able to pair my 8700 with laptop, but the 8700 shows only an Audio Gateway service on the laptop. I was expecting the 8700 will show a COM port or a PIM service.

I would appreciate your advice and insight.

Sincerely,
- Nick

Blackberry DOES NOT use MS ActiveSync.

ActiveSync is for Windows Mobile devices.

You can sync with your blackberry with Outlook.

The BB uses Intellesync which you get from installing the BB Desktop Manager.

Bluetooth on the 8700 is voice only, no data. I think you need to upgrade to OS version 4.2 for additional BT features.

Finally, got around to giving this a serious try. Successfully upgraded the OS to v4.2.1.96. I have a laptop with built-in BT. My 8700 is successfully paired. Two BT services are discovered: Audio Gateway and Dialup Networking. However, the BT options "Turn on Bluetooth support" and "Configure Bluetooth..." are still grayed-out in the BlackBerry Device Manager. How can it be enabled?
