Default Email without Data plan

Please Login to Remove!

I just bought a Curve 8310 and am on ATT. I don't want to pay for the dataplan because I don't get that much email. But I would like to move email from my inbox on Outlook 2003 to my BB. Is there any way to do that and how?

There is no way to "push" email without a BB Data Plan. Your only option is to get a data plan, install Opera Mini and view your email via the Web IF your outlook is accessable via the Internet.

What do you mean by "push" email? All I want is for Outlook to sync email to the BB.

And what is "Opera Mini"?

Sorry, but this is not possible.
Email messages never sync on a BlackBerry. They are only delivered wirelessly, through your blackberry's data plan.

Opera Mini is an alternative web browser, that may function without a BlackBerry Data Plan. It will not help in getting email messages delivered to your device.

While you don't need a Blackberry data plan to use Opera Mini, you still need a mobile internet plan of somesort or have APN access enabled on your account for Opera Mini to work. This is normally on by default, however you will want to check with your carrier as to how it works and what options are available. Here in Canada, Rogers has $5/5MB or $10/10MB, or they'll charge you 5c/Kb when you don't have any mobile internet plan, so you can rack up $51/Mb really fast...

Do other companies even allow a blackberry to function without a a data plan? Altell won't even allow you to use to your blackberry as a phone unless you buy the data plan.

Yep!

I have USCC and refuse to ever pay the $40 for data. That is one thing that REALLY pisses me off about blackberry. They need to understand that some use for a PDA/Phone. Give an option to sync email for gods sake. They need to give this as an option.

I dont get it!!

It is, already, obviously an option. You have opted not to have it.

Ok Either I read that wrong your your being a smarta$$ with that response.

All he wants to do is move his email from the PC to his BB. Read and respond to them. Sync back up and have them go to the outbox to be sent.

Not EVERYBODY can afford the data plan like the rest of you rich folks.

Yeah I really want to spend 40-50 PLUS another 40 for internet. I think not. BUT it would be nice to be able to read and reply to the email and have it send once synced up.

Being a smarta$$ ( if thats what you were doing ) doesnt help the original poster with his question. Suppose to be helpful not sarcastic (if thats the case)

THe proper and accurate response was correct, and don't slam other forum members please.

There is no way to sync e-mail back and forth from Outlook to the BlackBerry via a cable, or BT or any other way. Calendar, Notes, Contacts and tasks are synced. E-Mail is never synced. It can only be pushed (forwarded if you like).

T-Mobile, as an example, has a several low priced e-mail only plans that are extremely affordable.

You should send your suggestions to [email address]

That would be the proper route to take for recommending BlackBerry feature changes/enhancements.

You asked for synced email as an option, and it is an option.

And no, I wasn't being a smartass, I was answering your question (not the original poster). The fact you choose not to pay to get synced email, does not make it not an option.

I choose to NOT to purchase the Premium Unleaded gasoline, does that mean Texaco should give it to me for free? Do i want to pay $29.99 for push email? No, but I choose to, because I need it for my business.

Seems like a lot of people miss the fact that a BlackBerry is not a device for people who only get a few emails . This is now and for the future anyway will be a business tool. There are cell phones that will allow low cost email. A Palm or windows device might be a better choise if you find the BB beyond your needs or cost limits.

I wish gas was $2.99 a gallon here!!!!
