Default Known 3rd party apps that cause stability problems?

Please Login to Remove!

Hey guys

Can anyone tell me 3rd party apps that have been known to cause problems with resetting or freezing on Blackberrys? I have an 8830 and it freezes sometimes randomly and often resets.

Here are some I have

Gmail
Viigo
ESPN
Yahoo Go
Yahoo Messenger
Jivetalk
Uno
Spider Solitaire
Beyond 411
Opera Mini
NewsGator Go

I've reloaded my OS and it still does the same thing. I'm going to order a swap unit from Telus tomorrow, but I was hoping someone could shed some light before I do.

Thanks guys

Handango download utility causes the device to have the OS reloaded.

Is there a particular reason for this question?

My device randomly freezes and/or resets and I did an OS reload and it hasn't seemed to make a difference. It backed up my wirelessly installed applications and put them all back on. So I'm trying to find out if anything I have installed has been known to cause these types of problems so I can get rid of it.

That's kind of a round-about way to get an answer to your question. List out what you have on your device and we'll see if there's anything that jumps out at us. Sometimes it can be a combination of things.

Ah. You must have added those. I don't see anything that should be a problem. I'm not familiar with the Uno game. If I was going to uninstall something, I'd start with that. If the rebooting keeps up I would look at getting the device replaced. When it freezes what does it do? Does it give an hourglass? Look in Options >Status and post the number you see next to "file free."

File free is 10424654.

I already called Telus and have a swap number. Have to go into the store in the morning and do the swap. I was just trying to find something that might help so I wouldn't have to do that. Such a pain to give everyone your new pin when you swap units though, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

Forgot to mention I also have BBWeather, the bPhone theme, I modified the blackberry.alx file to get the other vendor themes (this problem was happening before I did that as well)

Your memory is low, but not dangerously low. Read through the optimize your BB link in my sig. It will help for setting your replacement. Then load those apps one at a time giving it a day or two in between and see if something is causing it. Be sure and make a backup of your device before you swap for the new one.

Did you try removing the bphone theme? Themes can cause many different, obscure problems sometimes. I'd be suspect of the theme.

You know, I used to have a bunch of themes on an older model I had, and I do remember it having random errors. When I removed the themes it solved the issue.

Would a theme cause problems if it's not in use, it's installed but not active? I will try that first to see how it goes.

Yes, a theme can cause problems even if not in use.
