Default Emails while roaming in Mexico w/Sprint

Please Login to Remove!

I just got my BB 8830 from Sprint about a week ago. I travel across the border to Mexico quite frequently and simply don't answer incoming calls when I'm roaming Mexican network. But now with the BB and push technology I started getting emails while I was over there. Does anyone know if Sprint charges extra for receiving emails while roaming internationally using BIS?

Thanks,
Joe

Yes, you will get charged per KB unless you have their $69.99 international BB data plan.

is there anyway to turnoff emails but leave the phone on while I'm roaming in Mexico? I like to keep the phone on because I like to be able to take important calls when necessary. I'm so used to be able to screen my calls while roaming, and not be charged for calls that I don't answer. But I guess with email, I have no choice :(

Yep, you can do that. Click on Options (icon), then Mobile Network. Turn off data services.

Thanks! And it actually says Data Services Off While Roaming Sweeeet, so as soon as I get a Sprint home signal I'll get my emails at no extra charge. Big newbie relief

I'm on Verizon and called them before I left for Mexico. They told me flat out the data wouldn't work in MX and that phone calls would be about a dollar a minute. I have their unlimited data plan. I asked about friends who had taken their iphones to Europe and had huge roaming charges. They said it flat wouldn't work on my phone. So of course I'm in Mexico and get emails and can surf, etc. I was gone a week and the roaming charges were about $24. It's all kind of interesting.

Well, unless you don't mind paying that extra $24 everytime you got to Mexico, you can go to options and select Data Services off while roaming; and still be able to receive phone calls (roaming of course). The way I see it, I would rather eat Rib-eye for dinner with those $24

pfft Rib-eye. NY Strip, Top Sirloin, or better yet, FIlet Mignon wrapped in bacon and grilled... that is great stuff.

As to verizon roaming, they will work in most places Vodafone works for voice and data. I am trying to find on their site right now the list of locations where they work and what services you will get.

International Services

there you go

For verizon you can activate the International Plan and pay the difference for just one month and switch back without affecting your current plan. We do it all the time for wok.
