bluetooth stereo gateways are not actually new. The RIM branded one is specfically made to work with blackberrys. however, any bluetooth gateway will work. I have a motorola one, the only reason i have it is it supports bluetooth v1, v1.1, and v2. I can get up to 150ft away with my stereo bluetooth headset, works great when mowing the lawn.
