nuked - bricked

I am new to this forum, got a 8330 about a month ago. but i am not new to forums. so i did search for an answer before posting a new thread. the only problem is that nobody seems to have the problem as me.
I woke up today and the LED was blinking red. once, slight pause, 3x, long pause, repeat. I tried pulling the battery waiting 10 minutes put it back. same thing. I dont get any screen, hourglass, nothing. holding the power key does nothing.
That's when i decided to search here and try to wipe it clean with CL_cmder. At that point i didnt care about losing anything on the BB - just wanted it working. So i followed the steps - but my PC never recognizes the device. CL_cmder says unable to open port. AppLoader only gives me the COM3 option - I tried to nail the timing thing but when i connect/reconnect/etc it never changes in the app(the device is not even rebooting?)
I also tried the loader.exe /nojvm but the apploader wont rec it either.
Something strange is that when i pull the battery and plug into the PC the led does the red cycle 8x then stays a solid purple...?
The funny thing is that i havent done anything differnent in the past 2 weeks. i did install some iphone theme, some games, apps, but they all worked just fine. i was texting last night - woke up with a paperweight.
If anyone has any input please, help. I dont feel like dealing with verizon at this point...tia

Welcome to the forums.
First off, I edited your thread title to remove the inappropriate language.
Secondly, do you have the OS for the 8830 installed on your PC? That might be why the PC is not recognizing the device.

Be sure you are using a direct USB connection to your PC, and not a hub.
Be sure you've set your connection to USB also in the DM application.

Tony...you need to install TWO pieces of software. You need Desktop Manager AND you need the Handheld Device Software. Two separate downloads from the Verizon download page. Do you have both?

yes i have both installed. I was very meticulous in the steps leading to this thread not to miss anything. the DM software doesn't recognize the device no matter what i try.
unfortunately i do not have another battery to make sure thats not the problem - but i read that i should at least get a no battery icon if i plug it in without one. and the battery was like 80% full before i went to sleep...
I feel as tho if it were an OS hiccup i should at least get a semi-normal boot process (white screen, hourglass, boot/reset) from what I've read.
What are the device's hardware failure indicators, if any?

Well, unfortunatly, this is not the first report of this I've read about on the 8330. Here is what happens. If you install DM 4.3 and NOT the OS, the DM will recognize the device but, obviously, won't recognize the OS since it's not installed. Once the OS is installed (4.3.0.127) the DM quits recognizing the device at all.
I'd be curious to see if installing an older version than .127 would give the same results.
You're going to have to uninstall both the OS and the DM and then reinstall the DM. Then install a previous version of the OS if you can find one.
Edit: Theres another thread about this...I'll see if I can find it.

Uninstall both the OS and the DM and then reinstall the DM and the following OS:

I'll be interested to know if this will work.

After you uninstalled everything, did you try plugging in the BB and see if it's recognized? What OS did you install after trying that? I think there is a problem with the driver being installed when the OS is installed. I've never seen a bug like this from RIM before but from the other thread, it's all I can figure out to be the problem.

I've gotten a solid purple LED before but it was because I had my bluetooth headset on and got a new message. Once I check the message it goes away.
Off topic but....
