Default Silly question - Is the Storm going to be using 3G service?

Please Login to Remove!

Actually two questions-

1- will the Storm be using 3G service?

2- does 3G service make voice better like it does to data?

thanks for helping me out!

1) Yes, if you're using it on Verizon.

2) 3G has nothing to do with voice, only data.

True with CDMA - not true with GSM/HSPA. 3G voice quality is much better on GSM networks. The OP might be coming from AT&T.

I will be using the Storm on VZW's network.

How can I tell if the bb is in 3g coverage area? My current VZW 8830bb shows 1XEV when it has data. What does the Storm show for 3g?

thanks

I know for AT&T it says "3G". I would assume that it's the same on Verizon.

If you look at the battery cover on your 8830 you will notice it says Qualcomm 3G CDMA. The 1XEV indicates you are on EVDO. 1X is CDMA. You will still receive data as long as the letters are capital.

I would imagine the Storm would show 1XEV when in a 3G area and 1X when not as the current BlackBerry devices do.
