Simply point your BlackBerry browser to the OTA address, and download from there. OTA = over the air.

If you do not want to download files OTA because of a limitation on your data plan you can do it in a number of ways. Converting them is one, but there is a simpler alternative if you have a memory card.

1. Download the required files to your desktop and plug in your BB via USB (enable mass storage mode)

2. drag and drop the files into your documents folder on your berry

3. unplug your Berry from the usb and navigate to your media folder on the device.

4. click the menu button and choose explore - then navigate to the documents folder where you saved the files.

5. click on the .jad file to trigger the installation.

Hope that helps. This info and info about how to convert the files themselves into .alx extensions can be found here.

You need the cod files as well to be on the memory card. Advanced users can use javaloader or make an alx.

Wirelessly posted (wonderful world edition)

use the url for the jad and replace it with .cod, download it. Download javaloader from one of the mods' signiture, not sure who. open a command prompt. Type javaloader.exe -u load «the location of your cod»

I have to agree with this. I see no point in a BlackBerry with no data plan. You put gas in your car, right?

Use FireFox.

Put in the URL to the JAD file.

FireFox will display the jad file contents.
Copy and paste the contents into a text document and rename the text file to the JAD file name including extension. (Only required if you want a completed backup of your purchased files)

Inside the JAD file. Will see at least one reference to a cod file. There may be many. You will need to download these cod files in FireFox as well.

In FireFox now replace the xxxx.jad you originally put in with each .cod file listed and FireFox will automatically download each one.

You can load the COD files as posted above with Javaloader.

You also have a complete backup of all the files for the future. I do agree with the above you should just get a data plan but I also feel you are entitled to a backup for your own use.

I think everyone did great. I just wanted to post my method. There is even an application out there that automatically does it all for you.

Default The best way to get OTA files (jad) without data plan

Download and extract the OTALoader.
Its an attachment with this message.
Now launch the OTALoader and paste the Jad file URL in the input box and click download on your system browser.
It will download and convert the Jad files to cod.
Now transfer the jad+cod file folder to your BB media card folder and use the Media application -0 Explore feature to launch the jad file.
Reboot the device by removing the battery and then open the application/theme.
