Default Move from MSDE to SQL server 2k...

Please Login to Remove!

What would I see the most improvement in blackberry enterprise server if I migrate to SQL Server 2k from MSDE? How hard is it to migrate from MSDE to SQL Server?

Thanks!

Its as easy as shutting down MSDE, copying the *.mdf and *.ldf files to the SQL data directory, then attaching the databases in SQL Manager. Very easy.

Last question. What is the best procedure to remove MSDE and install SQL Server if it is on the same box for Exchange and BES? Thanks again for everybody's reponses.

stop the SQL services associated with MSDE. copy off the MDF/LDF files to a safe location. uninstall MSDE. install SQL. install service packs. create a new BESMgmt (or BESTest) instance from within the BlackBerry software (move its database configuration to a 'new server'), thus creating the system database entries. stop SQL services. copy the newly created SQL MDF/LDF files elsewhere. copy the old ones back over. start SQL services.

...or follow the instructions in the link above, except treat it like one server rather than a remote one. same concept.
