Default Has anyone ever bricked a blackberry?

I was discussing this with my friend and he thinks it is possible to brick a blackberry if you use some of the homemade unlocking software.

Since the lock is not a hardware lock, i don't think it is possible.

Can someone set the record straight?

Yes, the home unlocking software interacts with the device firmware and one has the potential to brick it.

But using conventional means with an unlock code does not carry this risk.

The fact that you used the phrase "brick a blackberry" should have clued you in, no? Yes, it happens

Sarcasm is the only thing keeping semi-experienced BlackBerry users sane when people like you ask really dumb questions like this. While I should be ripping you for not taking 2 seconds of your own time to do a simple forum or even Google search, I'm not going to because this idiocy has at least provided me with some mild entertainment in what would have otherwise been a pretty dull work day. So I thank you.

Once again I don't see any reason in my post to trigger such response from your end. I asked if blackberry can be bricked using homemade unlocking software.
The whole purpose of this forum is to exchange knowledge.
On the other hand, from what I can see, you must be having a really dull day at work since you taken time to rip on some other posters in the last 90 minutes. I sure hope you are not wasting taxpayers money!

Mods, please close this thread!

Take a chill pill jrice!

everyone is entitled to ask questions, that's what the forum is here for! As for "asking dumb questions" well, there's no such thing as a dumb question!

Ask away makedonce!
