What a good BlackBerry upgrade?

I'm in need of a new phone as my current 8700 is fine but I would like something better. I was wondering what is the best BB I can upgrade to that can work with T-Mobile even if it is unlocked. Also would that BlackBerry be as good or better than a iPhone?

Depends what you are looking browse T-Mobile selection, I'm not sure but T-Mobile has the new Flip if you like flip phones.
All your preference really.

If it's unlocked, you can use pretty much any BB with Tmobile. Like SteveO86 said, depends on your preference (do you want flip, QWERTY keyboard, numerical pad like a Pearl, etc.).

If you're on TMO, check out the 8900. Awesome phone. (Check out 8900 series forum here for more info.) Available as 2 yr upgrade for $199 after MIR. Some have reported getting it for less through retentions. Add $50 if you only want 1 yr contract.

There are a lot of different form factors and keyboard setups for BlackBerrys. I always suggest vistiting a retail store or two to play arond with the devices. Get a sense for how they feel in your hand and in your pocket. Experiment with typing and navigating the menus.

Well I like QWERTY keyboards because I cannot stand the number pad on the pearl. I don't like flip phones either so is the 8900 version really the best choice to buy even if its from a different company that I have to unlock it? Is the Touchscreen BB exclusive to Verison? Will there be a Touchscreen BB for other providers as well?

The touchscreen BB (Storm) is exclusive to Verizon at the moment. But there is a GSM version of it available for European GSM carriers.
The 8900 is with Tmobile at the moment and since your current carrier is Tmobile you wont have to unlock it.

Right now, the only touch screen BlackBerry is the Storm, and it is exclusive to Verizon in the U.S. However, other BlackBerry models (with other carriers) may become availble later in the year, and exclusive agreements generally expire at some point. I do not know the length of the exclusivity agreement that RIM has with Verizon for the Storm.

Take a good look at the 8900. For T-Mobile users the lack of 3G cancels out some of the Bold's advantages, and the 8900 is very fast even without 3G.
