Default Opinions of the 7100v

Please Login to Remove!

Hi guys, it's my first post here so I hope that I get plenty of responses to convince me I have made the right choice!

I bought a 7100v on Ebay yesterday (assuming that it is at least in the UK, the latest model) and am now wondering just how good the device is.

I tend not to need email a great deal, although it is always handy to have them and will in the next few months be quite useful, but what is the device like as a phone and organiser etc.?

I figure that the very users of the device would be able to tell me their real-life experiences to help me make the most of my new device!!

Is the 7230 or the 7730 a superior phone or do I have (almost) as good as you can get?

Your opinions would be very welcome indeed!

Thanks!

Hi Gino,

I have a 7100v through work - it's great for email and as a calendar - the calendar is brilliant when you're at meetings - you can set up appointments in real time and it synchronises with our email/ calendar system back at the office (Lotus Notes). The phone part is ok to.

The keypad will take a while to get used to - especially if you are a current text demon - the keys are set out as a qwerty keyboard and not in alpha numeric order - once cracked though it's a breeze. Sound quality and volume is good and it has various modes from being totally quiet to vibrating, single beep etc. Speed dialling is there and is Bluetooth compatible. The downside is it doesn't have voice activated dialling - or if it has I haven't found it oh and mine has decided to operate on GSM and not GPRS so no emails at present and I don’t know how to change it back!!

I don't think I would have bought one myself but as a work phone it's great!

Hi air-wolf!

Thanks for getting back to me! I am glad to hear of the calendar being so useful because as a soon to be small business owner, I will shortly be on a 120-mile round trip commute so being able to have everything to hand is going to be very useful indeed!

You say the phone bit is OK. Do you manage to get a good reception, good call clarity etc.?

Hi,

Im currently in Malaysia, I bought my 7100v in Australia as it was cheaper. I must say its one of the bests ones out there in terms of looks/design according to me.. In terms of features, its all the same under the 7100 range.

All features offered have worked very well on me, I use it for emails heavily, internet, telnet, messenger, PIM. So far the device has been stable and voice calls are normal.

Hi Gino,

Voice call clarity is as good if not better than my old Nokia - the volume is also loud.

Default Synchronization

Hi there

I do agree with everything you say but can anybody explain why i cannot synchronize my 7100v with outlook? Is it related to the fact that I don't have an email account (Enterpise Solution) and I only use the device as PDA/phone? The Blackberry desktop software is disabled and I cannot performa a synchro.

Thanks in advance
