facebook notification from an e-mail accoint not associated with facebook

I have two email accounts. One is used to register for different services I used this account to register on facebook and to connect my facebook application.
Through bis, I also added my other gmail account which I use for communication with friends and family.
Today, i received a facebook invitation to view someones profile on my second e-mail account, but the notification also showed up in the facebook app. Since the second account is not associated with the Facebook or the facebook app in any way, how is this possible?
