I recently bought a unlocked 8800 off ebay, and it is unlocked as I checked using the mepd code in SIM menu. When I first put my SIM in it did not recognize it so I did a wipe in security options menu. The SIM card then does register however when I go to place a call it says 'radio not connected' I press connect and then it says 'only emergency calls can be placed'. After this the insert SIM card message re-appears at the top of the screen and an 'SOS' apears where the connectivity bars would be. I and have installed all the latest software.

Any help much appreciated I've tried absolutly everything in forums even wiping the IT policy on the phone.

I've read in some fourms that it could be that my SIM card is too old and just not compatible. My SIM is probably 3- 3 1/2years old. Is it possible that is the problem?

Have you tried putting the SIM in a different phone? Good way to tell if the prblem is in the SIM or in the BlackBerry.
