Has anyone tried to install OS5 on the 9780 ? I know, the lowest OS RIM supports is V6, but from the specs the device is a 9700 with more RAM.

I have to replace my aging 9700, which slowly disassembles itself in to small parts. I could replace it with a 9700, but If I could somehow get OS5 on the 9780, that would be better.

OS 5 and the 9780 are not compatible as far as I know. The 9780 shipped with OS 6.

The OS is device specific so there would have to be an OS 5 specifically designed for the 9780, you can't run a 9700 OS in it.
