Default Amazon cancelled my BB 8700c order, they said: "Cingular wanted a deposit", any ideas

Please Login to Remove!

i'm not too happy...amazon cancelled my 8700c because they said, cingular want a deposit before they could create a service plan and Amazon does dont offer their deals to customer who require deposits...

i was kinda shocked because i thought cingular creates service plans for the service based on information pulled from the credit report...and my credit it pretty good...so i dunno...do you guys/gals know of any other alternatives around this to get the phone?

i am even willing to pay someone $200 total (this amount includes getting the BB 8700c phone under the amazon deal) to make this happen if there are no alternatives...

thx...

Logic, and my magic 8 ball, tell me that you need to go to a Cingular store and shell out a lot of money to make this happen.

This happened to me when I opened a T-Mobile account, and I was 18 (no credit history). They basically want you to show up in person and they'll run a credit check on you. T-Mobile was nice enough to offer me a discount to cover the rebate I missed out on, so I wouldn't have to pay any more.

Taikun,

Take a look at the Post titled, "Buy through Amazon, unlock through GSMPS":
http://www.blackberryforums.com/show...ht=amazon+8700

You may find your answer there. Essentially, people have been purchasing 8700C handhelds through Amazon and canceling their Cingular accounts, within 3 days, as is allowed according to Amazon's agreement. However, the handhelds were not returned, without penalty. Apparntly Amazon's language does not really address this, or if it does, they do not enforce it. Amazon must have finally caught on...

Good luck

Either Amazon caught on or the Cingular Moles here alerted Cingular and they put a stop to it.

If you want the phone to use on another network - pay the $449 without a contract. :p

It's pretty much irrelevant as Amazon won't ship an 8700c for $149.99 without a service plan and that's where Taikun's having problems. There is the option to purchase without a plan but Amazon charges something like $450 for the device.

Best bet its to get someone else to order but since a Cingular account is created in that person's name it may be very difficult.
