Default 8700g from UK for US buyers hits eBay finally!

Please Login to Remove!

What's funny is that they are being sold as BB 8700 Vodafones. and not the 8700g. But the seller confirmed with me that they are actually from the
8700g line and can be unlocked for T-mobile in the US.

Bidding is moderate...and both 8700g auctions that I've seen will probably sell for around $500.00 US,
but the shipping looks to be extremely expensive (about $40+) . Not to mention the potentially pricy unlocking fees.

Check it out.

Bad deal I would say, if I'm looking for a Vodafone unit, I'd wait for the 8707.

I am from Australia and we have the unbranded 8700g's here now. How much would you guys be willing to pay for it? If the price is right, I would be willing to set up some for sale on Ebay and ship them to the US.

You dont learn lessons well do you, T-Mo is 2.5 away to release theirs, how long do you think shipping from Australia is going to take. No offense meant to the seller from Australia, I am not trying to undermine him at all, its just having followed delmarco's history of events, well . . .

KonTiki...once again you are my voice of reason..I didn't even think of shipping time.
I'm such a crackberry addict that I lose all contemplative ability of common sense when it comes to the highly anticipated 8700g.

forgive me.

heh. when i was in Australia, i sent my then girlfriend postcards from the Great Barrier Reef (Cairns), Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Phillips Island, and New Zealand (she loved postcards, what can i say). i was gone for a few weeks and when i returned home, she ended up receiving all of them in the following two weeks after my return - go figure...

I don't know if you guys ship via camel, horse and buggy or maybe with mystical sea creatures but fedex international priority takes one day from pretty much anywhere in the world from australia it might be two. He ships monday you have wednesday. And if he is correct, an unbranded one which I have never seen. Who wants a tmobile one everyone will have it. Damn ill take 5 of those 8700g holla at the boy genius!

hi guys. I'm not looking to profit. Just trying to help out with a need.

Not looking good at this stage as $500 will not cover costs. Looking more like $650 inc shipping depending on exchange rates.

Are this actually unbranded or not? If so post pics, and you will have 5 sold.

$650 + the $50 to $100 for Fed Ex to ship within a week.
I don't think so.
$750 for a cellphone that I'm gonna want to get rid of in a year or less for something better is beyond my precocious greed, consumer reasoning and shallow pockets.

I'll wait the two extra weeks for the free T-Mobile upgrade.

EDIT: Disregard that,
I just noticed it was $650 AUD and free shipping
which is about $400.00 to $450.00 USD.

Are these unmarked 8700g unlocked for ALL global carriers?

If they are then you have sold one today my Outback friend.

The German T-Mobile and US T-Mobile networks aren't the same. You'd still have to get it unlocked..so why the big rush to get a unit where you'll have to jump through even more hoops to get it working?

bigdongers - What are the costs in AUD$ for the units. If it's closer to delmarco's numbers, then I may be interested.

US T-mobile RIMs are impossible and/ expensive to unlock as I assume the 8700g will not be deviating from this long accepted rule.

If I can get a 8700g unlocked in March for at most $500 and never have to worry about it anymore or not have to dick around with a locked 8700g come April/May then that would be cause for celebrating.

You are right and wrong The units from T-Mobile US are usually locked, but the ones from T-Mobile Germany are not locked. You can use them on other GMS/GPRS networks as long as you buy the "Corporate Version" from T-Mobile . If you buy the "Prosumer Version" it will not work with other carriers. This device has no SIM lock or NET lock, but they can only used for BB-Service with german TMO SIM cards wiht the "Prosumer-BB-Service".

Where are the pictures of this unbranded 8700g?
Could you also post a screenshot of the devices help screen. You can get to the screen through pressing and H. With javaloader.exe you can create the screenshot directly from the device.

That is not the kind of photo I expected to see. I want to see a "real" photo of the device and not one taken from a website. Btw, from the color the device looks like the 8700g from O2, just missing the O2 logo under the screen.
