Default Unlocking T-Mobile 8700g - Please help!

Please Login to Remove!

Hi

I just moved here from Switzerland and I bought myself the 8700g. Is there any way I can unlock the phone to use my SIM card?

Thanks for your help!

Unlock it for free if you've had it for 90 days or if you paid retail, then T-Mobile will unlock it right away.

T-Mobile might will go ahead and unlock it since you've just moved here from Switzerland as well.

There's also some online companies that will unlock your BlackBerry remotely. They're listed here on the forum. You'll have to do a search. I believe $45 was the cost for unlocking the BlackBerry at one online company that people from the forums have used. Also, a forum member has used www.unlockblackberry.net

Thanx for your help. I do not plan to get a plan here and the phone I bought is retail. Can I walk into any T-Mobile store? The website you mentioned does not cover the 8700g yet. thank you for your help.

Of course you can walk into any T-Mobile store. It's a free country. However, they will have NO CLUE how to unlock your BB. You have to send an e-mail to T-Mobile. I don't have the address.

There's another website listed on the forum that covers the unlocking of the 8700g and it costs $45. If you purchased it retail, then call T-Mobile and they'll probably ask for a copy of your receipt and then they'll give you the unlock code for your 8700.

Yes, that will work Ian. Once you contact T-Mobile, they'll tell you the next step in which to proceed.

You have to make a copy of the receipt to send in to T-Mobile if you paid the full retail price in order for them to unlock.

If you're a T-Mobile customer and have purchased a T-Mobile phone and your account is in good standing; then after 90 days, you can request the unlock code from T-Mobile. Hence, T-Mobile can't unlock another carriers phones and vice versa.
