Upgraded my 8700g with it last night.
Everything works good for now.

Except, my favorite theme -Vodafone Today-
has disappeared from the release (also from OSs post .351).
And previous versions of this theme do not work at all.

Also, BB Today theme appears noticeably slower coming up
when switching themes and changing the background image
in the home screen.

This OS appears to use a lot more memory (RAM).
A screencap of device info is attached.

Not sure why people always debate about upgrading...An upgrade is an upgrade for a reason. There are fixes and improvements in updates.

Our company's Cingular rep said he recommends the upgrade. The notable changes in this device software are fixes for a VPN tethering issue, updates to Bluetooth profile, and improved voice performance.

All of which, I believe, were corrected some six or seven versions before. Of course he recommends it. It's their first release of bug fixes that many other worldwide carriers have been all over for a year now.

im curious for someone who still has the original OS that came with the 8700c what is the major difference here besides the themese which i dont care about anyway...

Im more concerned about the LMM which was an issue with my 7290 so i had to delete all the programs i had to free up memory... if this new version sucks up memory then would you say im better off keeping the original OS.????

Figment...can I just replace this file just as I would an .alx file? Will desktop manager then just see the change when I run Application Loader? I don't have the 8700 with me that I would like this feature on so I can't try it myself.

Of all the OS updates out there, this is one of them.

So far it is working great. Something major that was missing from versions 346 and 359 was the new email and new sms/mms notification when in other progs or screens in the Zen theme. It's back baby!

Haven't made any calls with it yet to report on voice quality, but I use Bluetooth so it will probably end up crappy anyway.

If I notice anything else significant, I'll reply back.

Haven't tried uploadind the .sfi using Javaloader myself.
Been using Javaloader to upload .COD application files uptil now.

I would think the .sfi radio file being part of the OS install would need
to be in the \GPRS folder when installing the actual OS itself.

Unless someone has successfully done it the other way.

I know you can modify the blackberry.alx file and then just start DM and run application loader and it will see the change and update. I've done it many times for themes.

Just installed this update on a friends Blackberry so he could get the Zen theme, but I am having a problem Hiding/Moving Applications...the ALT + WHEEL function is no longer working for this. Any ideas???

I upgraded to the new version for the Cingular 8700.

The major thing that I notice (unless I've been in a bunch of good locations) is that the phone is MUCH clearer. Before, particularly when on Bluetooth, it always seemed to be garbled and "on the edge" of unreadable. Now is seems, much, much better. Time will tell.....
