Default Daylight Savings Time Issue

Please Login to Remove!

Daylight Savings Time begins this year on March 11. If I enter an item in the Outlook calendar on any day between March 11 and April 1 (the day it would ordinarily start), the entry appears on my BB one hour earlier.

Alternatively, if I enter the appointment on the BB Calendar, it will appear in Outlook 1 hour later.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem. IAnyone have a solution> I am on a BES and use Mailstreet.

Thanks.

Chris

There are a few threads about this already. RIM has not issued the patches yet for either the BES or the handheld itself.

I saw those threads. The reason I posted is that I spoke to Mailstreet Tech today, and they said they were not aware of the issue and had no other affected users. That struck me as surprising because from the threads I had read here, it seemed like a known issue that was affecting all BBs. I was therefore wondering whether other people here had noticed it.

Thanks.

If they don't know about the issue, I don't know what hole they've had their head in. Is the DST change times a US issue only, I know it was passed by our Congress. And I read Mexico was not changing.

If Canada is not affected, perhaps it has not been on RIM's radar?

Did you read the web site I posted????

I think RIM is a bit aware of this.

MailStreet does know about the issue. I asked them about it yesterday via e-mail and their reply was that all necessary patches would be installed on their end. Device patches are up to the user. They suggested I contact Verizon Wireless tech support to discuss that issue but I don't have a suicide wish. Talking to VZW tech support might cause me to spontaneously slit my wrists.

The patches from RIM (and Microsoft, for that matter) will be out "in February".. Mini Y2K, here we come!

And the BES 3.6 isn't getting a patch; whooppee!

I spoke to Tom, who I understand is Mailstreet's chief BB tech. He was not aware of the issue. I sent him various links related to it, including links in this forum and the one to Rim's and MS's sites related to the issue. He has scheduled a call with me tomorrow and said he was going to get Cingular and RIM on the phone with us. I'll let you know.

I've read your posts and RIM's website completely a number of times, and I appreciate your keeping us up-to-date. I know RIM is aware of the upcoming change, I meant MailStreet may not be aware.

However, while the event is still 6 weeks away, with no patches available, I do wonder how imminent it is to RIM. And I do see now Canada will observe the DST change same as the US.

Thanks.

Let me iterate the fact that MailStreet is aware of the issue. I asked them this very question via e-mail on Sunday, the reply to which came within a couple of hours and Paul assured me that all necessary BES patches would be installed.

So again, MailStreet is on top of it. No need to worry. I'm sure RIM isn't having any fun either coming up with a solution to a problem caused by a short-sighted legislative body.

The problem is, I am scheduling things on my calendar for dates between March 11 and April 1. All Day events are showing up spanning two days and appointments with times are showing up an hour off. How can anyone have any confidence that the patch will fix appointments entered prior to the patch.
