Default Battery Drainage

Does checking email constantly drain battery? I find my battery draining alot faster for some reason. I have aftermarket software but hardly use them. I find myself checking my email often through the day though and making calls here and there. I also have the zen theme, does that drain battery?

From what I read on threads the zen theme isn't suppose to drain the battery. I instant message a lot so I'm sure that contributes to my battery life.

after about 8 hours unplugged from the charger, the battery is around 50%. Just having the screen on all the time will drain it right?

check to make sure other apps are closed. Some IM applications even unused drain the battery, as well as google maps, etc. Close them by clicking and selecting CLOSE or EXIT rather than just escaping out of the program. Using the Escape key to exit a program does not always fully exit it.

You hit it on the dot. I actually never closed down Mapquest Navigator and it was running in the background the whole day. Didn't even think about that. Thanks.
