Default Get Address Book from 8100 to 8800

Please Login to Remove!

I am trying to JUST get my address book contents from my 8100 to my 8800 and am not having any luck. I tried the switch handset task using the Blackberry desktop tools, but it gives too much and I ended up having to wipe my 8800 and restore. I just want the address book and thats all; NO config, themes, ringtones, etc. I will be using both units and that is the only portion I want to share. All the config stuff I want independent of each other...

Thanks,

Mike

Just as a safety consideration, I like to keep my BB synced with Outlook. Once doen it would only take 30 seconds to move all of your contacts to another device.

One last option (and maybe the best solution) if you are going to be switching between the BB's allot, is SyncJe

The software costs $29 but it's lifetime...

This is in the Linux area but will / can work with any device using any OS...

Check it out.... It might be worth the $29 if you swap devices quite a bit and want to keep them sync'd up...

Thanks for the suggestions. I don't really use Outlook per se but, I do have access to it. My company officially uses Groupwise... yuk...

I am surprised the BB software can't do it alone... Oh well, thats life.

Or another way is to bluetooth your contacts from one phone to the other. Cumbersome if you have a lot but it gets you the end result you want.

I switch devices all the time, and the switch device wizard is my friend...
Has always worked for me....

You could also do a back up and restore of your address book with DM 4.2
Last option is save your address book to your SIM card, and then just switch it to the new device and have it read the SIM.....

Try one of those, and post back...

Why not just back up the 8100 and then restore just the address database to the 8800? It can be done in the Backup/Restore-Advanced in Desktop Manager.

John Clark has the right idea. I forgot about the advanced function.

John has a good suggestion but if you do have outlook available it works good. If you don't use Outlook then for SURE do constant backups of your device and the advanced funtion will allow you to restore only what you want!

I do not like Outlook and only use it for this purpose.
