Default Cingular *MIN# and autotext search is frustrating me

Please Login to Remove!

To check your available minutes on Cingular, you have to dial *min# and send. However, as soon as I type "*m," the autotext kicks in and tries to search for a name in the address book. It will not let me type *min#.

Is there a way to turn off autosearch of the address book?

Thanks

Enter '*min#' into your contacts, and then assign it a speed dial if you have any free.

Thanks-- I should have said I did that and it is filed under "Check Minutes," but I was hoping for a more "proper" solution so I don't have to fill up my address book with a bunch of *# entries that shouldn't even be there.

But yes, the address book method works for now, though it is not very elegant.

No. Even after hitting send and getting the numbers line, mine tries to search the address book and does not work.

I got it to work by holding the "alt" key down while typing the "MIN" letters. Worked fine for me!

It's not autotext. A is the shortcut key for Address Book. I don't seem to have this problem. Are you pressing the green send key and then typing in *MIN# or trying to dial from the home screen?

Ok -- I see. You have to turn off Dial From Home Screen in the Phone Options if you want to be able to type in *MIN# at the dial screen.
