Question Network Rooms

Please Login to Remove!

Sometimes it's pretty hard to find information, and once you do it's sometimes scrambled because many of the users here are split between Canada's and USA's various networks.

I think if we have rooms for each network, such as Rogers, T-Mobile, etc., it would help those with more specific questions get quicker and easier answers instead of sifting through multiple threads and posts.

In theory I like this idea, but with RIM servicing so many carriers globally, I can see that we would end up with a lot of subforums with not a lot of content inside each one. Maybe there is a way we could work it that I haven't thought of. I'll take the idea back in to the forum team for some discussion.

A while ago we trialed something similar in the BES forum by spliting it down by mail server version, but most people never paid attention and posted things in the wrong place so we had to ditch it. I fear the same could happen here.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Too many carriers. We can't limit it to just those in North America. There are hundreds of BB Providers globally.. I don't think it is feasible. Just my .02

I agree. The list of carriers is too vast

What about by network type.

Cdma, Gsm, etc.

Most folks don't know the difference

Heck, many don't know the difference between an 8830 and an 8300

Now that I think of it, I go back to my original idea, by having subforums for each country.

Majority of the people on here are from Canada and the USA, so obviously those 2 must be split up. And if we could somehow find out how many people are from other countries AND if there is interest for them to have individual rooms then it be would be helpful, if not, just a Europe subforum.

But as it is now, it's just way to complicated. Mainly because of the different phones available between Canada and the USA as well as the packages each carrier offers!

There are very few BBs available in Canada that aren't offered in the US, if any, right now. If a user with a 8100 in CA has an issue with the device, routinely it can be answered (or searched and found) by the answer for an 8100 offered TMo in the US, the UK or in Italy. Similarly, The 8830 on Verizon and the 8830 on Sprint are so very similar, having a separate forum section for each carrier would hinder a user from getting a quick answer. An 8700 user on Movistar carrier in Chile can get their answers easily from any AT&T user in the US; posting a question in the "Chile" secton of this forum might only find 4-5 users with common interests.

Really, the issues of the BB are less geographic than they are by model and by OS. However, since Operating Systems DO continuously evolve, forum sections by OS don't make sense, and the Model sections do. Likewise, say within the 88xx series, the majority of questions do apply to all those 88xx devices. The differences of the 8830 and 8820 are minimal.

My $.02 worth.
