curious... when the site was down why did the message displayed go from "catastrophic hard drive failure" to "technical difficulties"? my guess is that the former didnt give users and advertisers too much of a warm fuzzy feeling about the site as a whole...

There are NO advertisers on the BBFAQ.... My guess is that it was an update to the process.... Went from 'catastrophic hard drive failure' (which was correct at that time) to 'technical difficulties' once the new hard drive(s) were in place and now it's 'back up' because a previous backup was restored...

Because there were backups, meaning it was no longer catastrophic, but rather a technical difficulty

Excellent work, Kris! I can't believe how much the FAQ was missed, even by me.

I was going insane missing both the FAQ and this site. You really don't know what you have until it is gone. Both sites are EXCELLENT tools.

BBFAQ = Main Page - BlackBerryFAQ. It is the sister site of BBF.

uh... nah. because the cause was still a "catastrophic hard drive failure", and the reason the site was down, regardless of whether or not there were backups. i like my explanation much better (you should write speeches for obama... he needs a good spinmeister these days)

You like this better??? How does this relate to the hard disk failure or the backups in general. Also Guess owns this site. I believe he would know slightly a little more about the issue than you.

Catastrophic would have been all Info lost and the FAQ would have to be rebuilt

Back ups were available thus no longer catastrophic

each is open to their own interpretation of this

I am working on getting the images back up.... It might be next week with the munchkin on spring break this week....

I have many saved and some need to be recreated.... Plus I am trying to compare Google cache to current pages and repair what was lost....

http://blackberryfaq.com/wiki/index.php/BES_Users_FAQ
http://blackberryfaq.com/wiki/index...._BES_Admin_FAQ

Are both broken along with a handful of other pages.
The linking from the home page of the FAQ seems to be messed up.
It's adding a /wiki/ before the index.php in the path.

The correct (or previous paths) were

BES Users FAQ - BlackBerryFAQ
General BES Admin FAQ - BlackBerryFAQ

BCSA
BES 4.1.6 :-: Exchange 2007 SP1

Yes, I am doing a temporary fix. I was testing some functionality last night and this is the result of some of it.
