A Free Gift To You - BlackBerryForums Shortcut Applications

BlackBerryForums Shortcut Applications
**DIRECT LINKS STRAIGHT TO YOUR FAV FORUM!**
A free gift to you!

NOTE: (02/02/2010) These shortcuts have now been updated to support OS 4.7 and 5.0.

NOTE: 07/23/2010: THE BBWAP SITE HAS BEEN DISABLED SO THERE IS NO NEED TO INSTALL THE SHORTCUT FOR BBWAP. YOU NEED ONLY INSTALL THE MAIN SITE SHORTCUT AND YOU WILL BE DIRECTED TO THE MOBILE SITE IF YOUR BB BROWSER IS SET TO EMULATE BLACKBERRY IN THE OPTIONS. Enjoy!!

BlackBerryForums has the BEST members around and the applications below were designed just with you in mind! We hope you will enjoy using these new homescreen application shortcuts directly from your trusty BlackBerry... three applications in all.

One for the wap.BlackBerryForums.com site, another to the regular BlackBerryforums.com site and another directly to the FAQ site! And, each of the apps are under 10kb in size, so small they would never crowd your BB device memory (two of the apps are actually under 5 KB).

Check it out, and ENJOY!

Special thanks to BBF members John Clark and simon-hain for their application development, testing and patience in designing and troubleshooting these. Also to several of the moderators of BBF for testing and feedback on these applications before release-especially MrKyoo. I'll give my personal business a shameless plug for designing the icons... Master Image.

**DISCLAIMER CRAP: All the apps have been tested and retested. Do not load the OS4.2+ apps to a device running OS 4.1 and lesser. BlackBerryForums will not be responsble for devices not working as a result of installation of any of the above applications.

Please do not distribute except via links from this www.blackberryforums.com site.

Nicely done!

cjcarbone 05-18-2008 02:32 AM

Dang, cant OTA because of the outage, but i'm going to as soon as i can!

looking good!

John Clark 05-18-2008 02:49 AM

Lol! Forgot about the outage!! It'll all be there in the morning. These shortcuts are nice and look good on the BB. We hope everyone enjoys them.

I'll give my big thanks to simon.hain and JSanders for putting this altogether. Good work guys!!

cjcarbone 05-18-2008 02:58 AM

I had the jonathan fisher shortcut with the BBForums icon that you had posted, and only complaint about that was the battery pull/ icon disappears thing.

Now, i won't have that!

thanks guys/gals, for this!

i know it will be perfect, as it is approved by this site!

John Clark 05-18-2008 02:59 AM

Yep, I really like jonathans app too but the battery pull thing got on my nerves as it seems like I'm always doing that.

Perfect? Hopefully. We tried it on quite a few devices and it seems to work good. Please report any issues here. Biggest issue is DO NOT load the 4.2 version on a 4.1 device. I've reloaded the OS to my old 7290 several times during testing!

Thank you. Now I can use Web Shortcuts for other sites.

ezrunner 05-18-2008 07:35 AM

Wirelessly posted (what does it matter?)

These icons indeed look great on the homescreen

They have been very useful!

My BB homescreen looks so much more complete

ThankYou simon.hain and JSanders
And to all the mods for testing, testing and testing!

akosnitzky 05-18-2008 08:08 AM

I installed OTA. I ignored an error message and the icons installed with no problem. Very nice.

JSanders 05-18-2008 08:19 AM

On a few devices, upon install, there has been a module # error message... but like you say, the app works regardless. Honestly, I think you can ignore that error.

ricpac 05-18-2008 08:23 AM

I love it! Approved and Agreed

ezrunner 05-18-2008 08:28 AM

^^agreed^^

ndub33 05-18-2008 09:57 AM

Thanks to JSanders and the others involved with creating and testing these. Gonna go beg my BES Admin to let me download these tomorrow when I get to the office.

Massonite 05-18-2008 02:11 PM

Looks good! I got the error message as well, and the first time I loaded it, it took me to the Blackberry homepage. Then I closed the browser and clicked on the icon and it worked.

Thanks guys!

John Clark 05-18-2008 02:41 PM

This error only seems to happen on cdma devices. Not sure what the deal is. It doesn't seem to affect anything, though.

Glad everyone is happy with it! Mr. Sanders and Simon.Hain have spent a good bit of time on it.

Phranc 05-18-2008 02:52 PM

I got the error here, also, but it installed fine.

daphne 05-19-2008 12:30 AM

Ooo... just saw this thread and downloaded them. Very nice!! Thanks guys.

I got the error but it didn't prevent the installs.
