First time user so be gentle. have a pearl 8220. my inbox messages are attaching themselves to my compose folder instead of my inbox folder. any ideas what I have done.

Explain that in detail. There is no "compose" folder. You have a main messages folder in which all mail and SMS can be held. You can separate out your SMS to its own folder.
