Default IE8 - forum feature is broken - 08-10-2009, 12:13 PM

For some reason, the forum menus like "Forum tools" and "Search this forum" displays the menu very slowly ever since I upgraded to IE8. I think it applies to all such menu bars in BB forum.

Please don't tell me to use FireFox or degrade to Ie7. Those are not what I want, and people keep telling me to do something like those. :P

Use Google Chrome. ;)

If you insist on using IE8, then try adding blackberryforums.com to Compatibility View.

Hi, this is Feran with the Internet Explorer Outreach Team. Try enabling the Compatibility Mode (broken page icon next to the refresh button on the toolbar). Or try managing add-ons (under Tools in IE8). Disabling unnecessary add-ons, or add-ons with more than a .2 second load time may help resolve your issue.

Let me know if this works for you!

peguin3107 already suggested as such.

Did you also try disabling your add-ons?

I know you said you don't want to hear it but I have given up on IE8.

I only use FireFox and Chrome because of the issues with IE8. With its slow loading, and constant crashes IE8 has become an absolutely miserable browser.

Well, I definitely understand choosing a browser that works best for you. I’m sorry you have had such issues with IE8 – especially since so many others have had such positive experiences with it.

From a security standpoint, IE8 is a very safe and secure browser. Have you seen this recent study by NSS Labs study showing that Internet Explorer 8 is the best browser for protecting consumers against malware and phishing attacks?
blogsdotmsdndotcom/ie/archive/2009/08/13/real-world-protection-with-ie8-s-smartscreen-filterdotaspx (Replace the "dot" with a period ".")

Also – if interested in trying IE8 again – if you could provide me with more info (computer, Operating System, RAM etc) and the exact issues you have, I could try and send it on to tech support and get you some answers/help.
