Tom I love this site. On my 7520 I go to this site through my brower and it seems that all pages load so slow. I use to access it in a different way(no images) and it loaded a lot faster. Up until yesterday. Are my settings wrong or am I doing something wrong. Please help me.
Thanks

You likely accessed it through the WAP interface. See Tom's reply above concerning that.

Interesting... I see this message at the top of the page: "Hello Two Mike Romeo it appears that you have not posted on our forums in several weeks, why not take a few moments to ask a question, help provide a solution or just engage in a conversation with another member in any one of our forums?"

I just did

Thumbs up

Speed or no speed - this website has taught me more in the past month than I learned in (4) years of High School.

Seriously - I live on this page - you all do a GREAT job, and provide an invaluable webpage...

Managing IT / new technology is hard enough - its nice to know you have a place to turn when you need help.

Thanks for all your hard work!

The site does seem much faster than prior. However when ever i use my Dell XPS Laptop the pages seem to shutter (load slow, realllll slow). Any other system i use the site works great. The Dell has a Pent M 2.0 GHz w/ 2GB or ram.

Good job on the update.

My Dell sucks anyway. Maybe it's sp2 fighting back something running i'm not aware of?

i'm running on a Pentium M 1.8 GHz w/ 1GB RAM just fine. might be something on the system, though. i'm also running the beta for IE7 (on all machines). try using FireFox and see if there is any difference. the site now is going to be fairly javascript/xml-intensive, but it still should not present any major machine horsepower issues, imo.

I'm not sure why i posted on my Dell issue? It's the Dell and not the site. The site is much better and i have noticed a difference on all my other machines. Keep up the great work.

Any chance future upgrades include skin options? I'm a tweek freak at heart.

Well, the more I use the new format from my BB the less I like it. It seems to me the refresh function is slightly broken. I monitor three forums on every visit, and on the first view it will still show the time of last visit that was shown on a previous visit (appears to be loading from cachea). I then do a refresh and it updates correctly. I can then read through the new and updated threads using the First Unread Post button and everything is fine, just like the previous version.

After reading all the interesting threads, I will refresh to see if anymore posts have been added. If a thread has been updated it will display as expected, but now something new. When I select First Unread Post, it goes to the same post it did the last time, and any new posts are not displayed in the thread until it is refreshed (again appears to be loading from cache).
This does not. appear to hapen when I browse from my PC.

This is not the way it worked before the upgrade. Is there anyway to correct this on my BB or in my User CP? Changing the Browser Emulation does not make any difference. I assume this has to due in the way the BB internet browser checks for changes since last refreshed and how the new forums version responds.

Other than this and the previously reported error display, I guess I can live with the new format, and the incresed speed is great.

Thanks for your Help.

The AJAX-powered Quick Reply absolutely kicks butt. Not having to reload the entire page after posting a reply is a HUGE time/bandwidth saver!!!

The vBulletin upgrade here is making me really hate the older vBulletin sites I visit. (hint hint Howard).

rcbjr, did you browse the FULL PHP-coded site from your handheld before, or did you browse it using the WAP interface?

and aristobrat, I agree completely - vB 2.x to 3.x was a huge upgrade, especially in the Administration department, but the AJAX code is perhaps the best improvement I have liked since I've had a registered license (4 years now). Also, as far as Administration is concerned, they added a nifty package installation area where you simply upload an XML and it'll handle all of the template/file additions/edits necessary (for the most part), which was not the case in 3.x (too many manual edits).

jibi,

Since they pushed the Internet Browser to my 8700, in Nov. I think I have visited the WAP site 3 or 4 times, mainly for trouble shooting. I do most of my browsing here on my BB.

Any help in this will be greatly appreciated as this is very frustrating. I have to refreash much more frequently now, which counteractes the effects of the new server.

Thanks for your Help.

You lost your FavIcon, the little blackberry in the address bar. You now have the default Vbulletin icon there.
