Question forum search capability?

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

I've noticed that if I'm searching a forum for a keyword that I know exists in there in a code segment, the search doesn't find it. Is there a way to do this, or is it a shortcoming of the search function? (And if so, can it be corrected?)

Thank you.

Give an example of a search term to see if we can duplicate/replicate the issue. I utilize the quick search feature and advanced search of these forums. 9.9/10 I find what I am looking for.

Try searching on "setBackgroundColor". I tried both simple search & advanced search, no hits. The word occurs in a thread called "EditField cursor color" in the developers forum, in a code snippet.

Thanks.

Well, that's exactly my point -- it found the occurence in this thread, because it's not in a formatted code segment. It doesn't find the occurence in the "EditField cursor color" thread, because it IS in a formatted code segment. It seems that the search skips over code segments, which is not the behavior I'd expect.

Code content is indexed, however it appears that this is simply part of too long of a string (the content string not the search string). Or it possibly could simply be a bug in either vBulletin or PHP, to be honest.
