Default How About a "Will Not Do Section" - 08-23-2007, 10:53 PM

How about details on what a specific model will not do. Examples:

8830 does not do generation or editing of Microsoft documents without third party software.

8830 does not allow for receiving emails of media and playing videos or music attachments.

8830 does not allow for streaming video or audio.

I think you get the idea.

Time for some Jungle Lunch!

Sorry, Tboltram, those are not Frequently Asked Questions.

Don't you get the idea?

Most users don't "frequently ask" what will my BB not do?

My suggestion was made after reading the threads on this and other forums and wondering if a list of what the BBs will not do would be helpful. This is assuming that the reader knows to check the FAQs or search first.

By the way I assume that your iPhone is hacked as you are on T-Mobile. How does it work? LOL

Odd, I haven't seen those questions posed here, "Please tell me what my BB will NOT do?" You may have seen that, but I really don't read every post on here, but when some issue or question is posted continuously, we do often notice it. That is not one.

Default A Bit of Clarification - 08-27-2007, 11:05 AM

Examples:

1. SMS messages no longer than 160 characters, I see threads on this.
2. You cannot use the media card as general purpose storage, I see threads on this.
3. You cannot print directly to a regular printer, I have seen threads on this.

I may have not been clear as to my intent, but this should make the intention or suggestion a little clearer.

Your forum is a great service and I appreciate the work you put into it. Where else can one get education and enertainment in the same location!

Thanks, I understand. Good general suggestions. Most of those are really across the board BlackBerry use restrictions, or like the SMS, limited by the carrier on ANY cell phone. Some carriers vary on the SMS 160 character count. Likewise, I use my Media card for general purpose storage, I have a folder on the micro SD card with some personal files I could need in a pinch, which are not viewable at all on the BB, only on a PC.

Thanks, the FAQ site needs additions and new subjects are added to it almost every day (I know I added 3-4 in the past three days). All suggestions are welcome.

A section on PIN messaging. All the ins and outs, and the fact that posting your PIN in your profile won't result in anything more sinister than receiving unsolicited messages.

Kris, I have some documentation that I'll post (or give to you to post). I need to sort it out first, remove some specifics, etc. It may be updated information to what's already there.

We need a step by step walk-through of how to sync your BB to your PC... using Outlook since that is the most common. That question get asked a lot.

Also, I think a nice list on the Main Page updated of all the models, and what major feature each specific model includes... i.e.:

8300 - Camera
8310 - Camera, GPS
8320 - Camera, WiFi

etc.

Default Video Conversion Guide - 09-24-2007, 02:07 AM

Lunk - Great work on the FAQs.

I've seen a lot of questions recently on video conversion for the 8100. The video conversion sticky is intimidating, at best, for somebody not too technically inclined. Since the new version of DM includes a Roxio Media Manager that will convert the videos as they are transferred, I did a short step-by-step writeup of how to install/use the DM with the Roxio Media Manager. I incorporated screenshots. Feel free to use my guide as you see fit. I hope someone finds this useful.

Include things like "must have apps." That gets asked all the time.

I found this post with lots of links. Maybe it could be used somehow.

Default New FAQ Idea - e-mails disappearing with BIS... - 10-03-2007, 04:46 PM

How do we get this added to the FAQ? It happened to me and several others from this thread said they also were unable to locate the answer easily enough by searching the forums.

Well if you write it up, step by step, I'll post 'her up there.

(I also sent your trackball cleaning instructions to be posted, but because of the pictures, I could not/don't know how, to do myself.)

This one I can. It's a Wiki FAQ, so you actually could, but we have tried to restrict new pages to the Mods since it was getting spammed endlessly.

Thanks.

Lightbulb Recommendation for FAQ: apps/messages on memory card - 11-24-2007, 09:19 PM

From what I understand, messages and applications currently can't be stored on the BB's memory card. If that's the case I would recommend adding that tidbit to the FAQ in the following sections:

1.5 Media Card and General Media FAQ's
1.6 Applications and Operating System FAQ's

As a recent convert from the Treo world, one of the first things I looked for was how to tell the BB to store apps on the memory card, but I didn't find any info in the FAQ and was this close to posting a thread about it!

Red face forum FAQ - favourites - 02-13-2008, 01:08 PM

I'm new around here (in fact I'm not sure I've posted this to the right forum), but was wondering if there was some way to create a list of favourite threads/posts?

This would save me having to rerun a search and save time hunting for something particularly useful that doesn't already appear in the FAQs.
Many thanks.
