It is easily the best AIM software, plus it has msn/gmail/yahoo/etc...I love it.
It could affect battery life, though. It runs strictly on data, not your text messaging. Battery life when logged on jivetalk can differ from person to person based on many factors such as reception, buddy list count, how many accounts you're logged on, etc. The more it transfers data, the more it could drain your battery. A few people have complained of it constantly transferring data and cutting battery life down a bit, but I'm talking 1 or 2 people from what I've seen so far.
Personally, with a buddy list on AIM of about 100 users...not logged on anything but AIM...I notice no difference in battery usage.
