Does anyone have any new information on the Linked In application for the BlackBerry? In particular, have they expanded their capabilities to deal with groups and discussions? What version are they up to, and have they improved the shortcomings such as battery drain, always loaded, etc.

I am not a heavy user of the app. Current version is 1.1.0.0

Thanks. Last I heard 1.1 was still pretty much crippled and without value, so I won't waste my time for now. It's too bad; I'd much rather have a solid LinkedIn app than Facebook.

It seems that many of the developers of the social apps have sort of abandoned their initiatives

That seems right. The lack of information on the LinkedIn group dedicated to this app is actually somewhat surprising.

Considering the BlackBerry is typically a business phone I can't believe they would not put in more effort to a pseudo-business website.

Maybe next year...

In the group on LinkedIn there are fairly consistent complaints about: (1) battery drain, (2) inability to access and comment with Groups, and (3) inability to unload the application from memory, even with a battery pull. I suspect that the developers were surprised at how little their customers value the features that were implemented in the application.

There has been virtually no comment from the LinkedIn insiders since 1.1 was released, which is interesting in that it for all intents and purposes reflects a violation of the premise of social networking sites.

Version 1.2 has been released and should be available at the app store before too long. Initial comments are still less than stellar; cannot unload from memory and it auto-loads. No word on other capabilities (group) and battery drain.

Battery drain hasn't been that bad, but I honestly don't know what to do with the app.. Guess I'm not much a Linked In user.

This is an odd app. They seem to think that getting pushed status updates of what LinkedIn contact members are doing is the hottest thing since sliced bread. Most people that I know use LinkedIn more for the groups, and there is no functionality related to that.

I've found the app to error out on me, with a pop-up stating it was sent to the LinkedIn group

this version is just as bad as the last one... I'm not even sure what's really changed, as it looks/behaves just like 1.1 did. Astonishingly bad.
