This IT28 cap tester is very useful and works well.The power supply has been re-capped with brand new electrolytics, ready for decades of more testing.
Eye tube is bright and opens fully (as in pics) when reaching the caps value with the main bridge dial,
and after leakage testing showing the cap accepting the charge (then it closes and reopens after
placing lever switch to middle ground discharge position, all correct, working well.)
Power factor pot is a bit touchy but does yield the correct amount of eye opening with no problems.
As you can see in pic 1, the tester reads accurately with the 22uF electrolytic on the C ext scale.
Also accurate in pic 2 on the C x1 scale. Pic 3 shows 300Vdc leakage test result open eye = good charge cycle. Finally pic 4 shows accurate bridge test on a .022uF Orange Drop on the C x.01 scale.
Excellent cosmetics, clean face and case, orig handle and feet all in superior condition.This unit identified a bad NOS Illinois cap I was going to put in my Heathkit W5 amp and saved me much
trouble not having to hunt down the bad part later. The cap made the eye tube flutter and stutter during
the leakage test, correct result for a bad cap. Now I test all NOS caps (power filters, coupling, and bypass) before installing.Will be carefully and thoughtfully packed and fully insured.
