Many instruments have 50 ohm inputs; others have high input capacitance. In either case, loading of the circuit under test, and the limited ability of the instrument to handle large signals, are major issues. A high-performance active probe solves these problems, thus increasing the usefulness of the instrument.
Most active probes can\'t handle voltages beyond a very limited voltage range. Thisone does it with no problems. It can measure voltages up to 100 volts (depending on frequency),or measure small AC signals in the presence of DC voltage up to 200 volts. It places a load of 1.1 pF or less on the circuit undertest, and is flat within 3 dB to 1 GHz or 600 MHZ, depending on which screw-ontip is used.
